Bilal Nasser is a Palestinian-Canadian guitarist, composer, organizer, and activist from Windsor, Ontario. Raised in a family of Palestinian refugees, his musical and political lives have always been inseparable, shaped equally by classical guitar training, underground punk and DIY culture, and decades of involvement in Palestinian solidarity organizing.
Working across guitar, voice, electronics, tape loops and improvisation, Nasser has developed a singular practice that merges post-rock, drone, hardcore, shoegaze and contemporary composition. His performances reject the conventions of concert music, taking place as readily in warehouses, skateparks and community spaces as on traditional stages.
Following his acclaimed solo releases Where the Orange Groves Grow (2021) and How Can We Say Nothing (2024), Every Martyr Is A Universe marks both his Constellation debut and his most ambitious work to date. Conceived during the student encampment movement, the album expands beyond solo guitar into an ensemble of strings, horns, electronics, piano and voices, confronting questions of grief, diaspora, political responsibility, faith and collective action in the midst of genocide. Rather than offering consolation, Nasser's music asks what art can still do in the face of irreversible loss.
